Nepal, July 05 (ANI): Sohan Shah Kalwar, like many others, was fighting for the rights of Madhesis when he was shot down by police on September 1, 2015 along with 4 other civilians. They all belonged to Parsa and Bara districts of Nepal. Sohan's 23 year old widow, Binita Shah is survived by two sons, Raja and Ravi. In the southern Terai region of Nepal, the Madeshis have been protesting for equal representation in the newly formed constitution that was promulgated in September last year. Sohan Shah Kalwar was also fighting for the same cause. His family is demanding that they be properly compensated and be declared a martyr. They struggle to make ends meet by running a small restaurant in Birgunj. More than 50 people were killed in police firing during the Madhesi agitation last year. Most of them are waiting for the government to give them proper compensation and declare the victims as martyrs.
