a major one for me was the deleted scene from gladiator where the sister of the emperor discussed in secret about the grain stores not being replenished because of her brother spending it all on games to distract the people from real problems. I never could understand why she suddenly seemed to go against Commodus. This made a lot of sense as it was for the good of the people and not just to get a piece of Maximus sword.

That's when Lindelof came in and even then I don't think Scott was happy because in an interview with Lindelof he said "I'm not oppose to writing the sequel to Prometheus, I just wasn't asked back".
