A state of emergency was declared in Lake County, California, due to the Clayton Fire, by Governor Jerry Brown on Monday, August 15. The fire has burned 4,000 acres and destroyed 175 structures, including homes and businesses. Evacuation orders were issued, as firefighters continue to battle the blaze which is now 40 percent contained.
On Monday, Damin Anthony Pashilk, 40, was charged with arson in connection with several fires, including the Clayton Fire.
