On Friday morning, President-elect Donald Trump tweeted that he has asked for an investigation into an NBC report about Russian officials celebrating his election victory.
Donald Trump is calling for a review into a recent NBC News story because it allegedly cites leaked information from an official intelligence report.
On Friday morning, the president-elect tweeted, “I am asking the chairs of the House and Senate committees to investigate top secret intelligence shared with NBC prior to me seeing it.”
This was, in fact, his second post about the matter, writing the day before, “How did NBC get ‘an exclusive look into the top secret report he (Obama) was presented?’ Who gave them this report and why? Politics!”
The report being referenced involves Russian officials’ reaction to Trump winning the presidential election.
The story in question published by NBC News noted, “A senior U.S. intelligence official with direct knowledge confirmed to NBC News that the report on Russian hacking delivered to President Obama Thursday says that U.S. intelligence picked up senior Russian officials celebrating Donald Trump's win.”
Trump has continued to express doubt about Russia's involvement in swaying the 2016 U.S. presidential election despite a consensus by the intelligence community.
