Iranian People Chose 'Engagement with the World,' Rouhani Says After Re-Election

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the people have chosen “engagement with the world” during his televised remarks on Saturday, May 20, after securing re-election.

He had promised reform during his re-election campaign before securing 57 percent of the vote, according to reports. He also defied a court order by mentioning former President Mohammad Khatami on air. Khatami’s name has been banned from being mentioned on television by courts.
