長良橋南詰の鵜飼観覧船のりばから西へ続く「湊町・玉井町・元浜町」の町並みは通称「川原町」といい格子戸のある古い町並みが今も残っています。
狭い間口に長い奥行きという昔ながらの日本家屋が軒を連ねるこの辺りは、昔、長良川の水運を利用した川港として栄え、多くの商店で賑わっていました。現在でも、伝統工芸品「岐阜うちわ」を製造販売しているお店や、岐阜銘菓「鮎菓子」で知られる和菓子店などが、レトロな雰囲気を残したまま営業しています。
さらに、ここ数年町屋を利用したモダンな飲食店などが登場し新しい魅力もプラスされました。鵜飼観覧船のりばからすぐですので、鵜飼観覧前の散策にもおすすめです。
