DVLA Campervan Conversion Requirements - How To Register A Van As A Campervan

2017-10-17 72 Dailymotion

In this video I discuss how to go about re-registering a van as a Campervan, also known as a Motor Caravan. To re-register a van as a camper van, there are a number of requirements the DVLA will need to see photographic evidence of. I cover all these requirements as well as show example photographs which the DVLA will want to see to register the van as a motor caravan. I also go over the example template that is available on the DVLA website which needs sending in with the photographic proof of conversion.

The main requirements are as follows:
Side opening door (sliding door is fine)
Side Window (in any side panel)
Cooker (must be fixed down, nothing portable)
Water storage
Bed 180cm long minimum
Table / dining area (table but fix to the van somehow, nothing portable)
Storage (under bed, overhead)

These are the main requirements the DVLA want to see to be able to convert a van to a campervan on the V5 registration form. I will be sending the photo's that I show at the end of the video off the the DVLA along with an accompanying letter and will expect to receive my V5 back within 3 weeks or so.
