The styling up front is the new direction Mitsubishi is going. Gone are the days of the Darth Vader looking grille. The new grille shows Mitsubishis new corporate face. There are strong charer lines that run alongside the headlights down the front of the bumper and terminate in the lower front grille. Aside from the unique front end, the rest of the new Outlander is pretty bland and uneventful. At least the 18-inch aluminum wheels are standard on the higher trim levels.\r

Standard under the hood of the GT model is Mitsubishis 3.0 liter V-6 MIVEC engine that makes 224 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy ratings are 20 MPG in the city and 28 on the highway. The other engine option is a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder that makes 166 horsepower and 162 lb-ft. of torque while getting 25 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway thanks mostly to the CVT transmission.\r

On the inside the GT Touring Package includes leather seats, sunroof, navigation, Rockford-Fosgate sound system, and a number of other features. The new Mitsubishi Outlander is fun to drive: the brake feel is excellent, the electric steering has a lot of communication on the road, but it just needs more power. The Outlander has a lot of exclusive features for its class. But for every positive there seems to be a negative when it comes to the new Mitsubishi Outlander.\r
