Two children were killed after bullets stored illegally at a scrap metal warehouse exploded in the Vietnamese province of Bac Ninh on Wednesday, January 3.

The one-year-old boy and five-year-old girl died and eight people were injured after the explosion, Channel News Asia reported. As well as destroying the warehouse, the blast decimated four homes, the news channel reported.

This video taken by an onlooker shows the rubble left by the explosion. In the clip, local residents can also be seen watching officials investigate the debris at the scene.

The owner of the bullets has been charged with “stockpiling and illegally purchasing military weapons”, Vietnamese state media site Bao Giao Thong reported. He admitted he had stored seven tonnes of bullets in his garden since 2016, which he had planned to dismantle for their metal, it was reported. Credit: Facebook/NguyễnAnh Hướng via Storyful
