Malaysia's former ruler and opposition leader Mahathir Mohamad has returned to power by winning a stunning victory in the country's general election.
The election commission says Mahathir's opposition alliance had won 115 seats, over the threshold of 112 needed to form a government.
The result marks a landmark shift in power in Malaysia, ending the 60-year rule of Prime Minister Najib Razak's National Front party.
Mahathir will be sworn in later Thursday and at age 92, will become the eldest elected leader in the world.
