This weekend I got to sit in the atrium of the British library after closing hours and hear the Rustavi choir perform select pieces from the earliest sound recordings of Georgian polyphonic music. A vast collection is held in their vaults for those that want to explore it further. The books were all stacked high in the distance and people's heads were scattered and listened in silence around the huge library atrium. This song basically melts you. Batono Anzori Erkomaishvili was there, he's the lead scholar and specialist of Georgian polyphonic music. The men, their costumes with knives and their tender voices were all bought out through these historic spine-chilling songs.
