Thirteen Chinese tourists were injured in two separate speedboat accidents days apart in Thailand. On February 9, 2019, a speedboat boat crashed into an oil tanker injuring 11 holidaymakers, five of whom remain in hospital. Two days earlier (February 7, 2019), two others suffered minor injuries when another speedboat with 23 Chinese passengers on board struck a coral reef.
The two accidents happened just six months after a fatal incident in July 2018, when 47 Chinese tourists were killed as a ferry sank off the coast of Phuket Island.
