Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik, facing flak over handling of the August 11 violence at Azad Maidan, has been transferred, Maharashtra home minister RR Patil said on Thursday. Satyapal Singh has been appointed new police commissioner of the city. Patnaik under political fire for Mumbai violence said. Maharashtra home department had proposed the transfer of Patnaik.
