In a complete u-turn. The Gujarat Government has completely backtracked on the death sentence for Maya Kodnani, telling the SIT - to not seek death for the former Gujarat Minister.
In what is being seen as move to placate LK Advani. The Gujarat Government which had earlier sought death sentence for Kodnani has now told the SIT to not seek capital punishment.
A former Gujarat minister, Maya Kodnani was convicted for her role in the Naroda Patia massacre during the post-godhra riots. She has been sentenced to 28 years of prison
