Philip Hammond Resigns After Boris Johnson Wins Prime Minister Election

British finance minister Philip Hammond resigned after Boris Johnson was elected as the new prime minister. Before Johnson was elected, Hammond promised he would rather leave than serve under Johnson. According to Reuters, Hammond strongly opposes leaving the European Union without a deal. Hammond said after the 2008-09 recession, the country didn’t have any choices but now they do.
