As the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong continues to simmer despite a quiet couple of days,...U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed concern about China's potential response.
For more on this and news around the world, let's turn to our Kim Da-mi.
Da-mi, tell us more.
In his strongest remarks yet,... President Trump says he doesn't want to see the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong met with violence by China.
Speaking before boarding Air Force One for New Hampshire on Thursday,... he said he "wouldn't want to see a violent crackdown."
He added his belief that Chinese President Xi Jinping should take the extra step of sitting down with Hong Kong protesters as a way to calm the situation.
On Wednesday, Trump proposed on Twitter that President Xi has a face-to-face meeting with the protesters to help resolve the crisis.
China flatly rejected Trump's proposal, also slamming his remark that he hopes Beijing would humanely deal with the protesters in Hong Kong.
Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson, Hua Chunying, said on Thursday that "Hong Kong affairs are entirely China's internal affairs.
The spokesperson noted Trump's previous comments that "Hong Kong is a part of China and that they'll have to deal with that themselves."
