Death toll in Iraq reaches 300 amid protests

More than 300 people have been killed in Iraq... and nearly 15-thousand injured... in the latest wave of anti-government protests that began last month.
At least seven people were killed on Saturday in a crackdown in Baghdad and the southern city of Basra,... as security forces used live ammunition, tear gas and sound bombs,... according to police and medics.
Protests last month erupted in the Iraqi capital and several southern provinces over high unemployment, corruption and a lack of public services.
After the authorities responded with violence, protestors have called for the current government to step down and for early elections.
