The Tamil Nadu school where a girl killed herself alleging forced conversion released a statement saying the management had never intervened with any of the students’ religious beliefs. They added that they’ve been running the institution for 180 years with the sole aim of educating the marginalised and those to whom education was denied.
Meanwhile, the Congress has planned a show of strength with an eye to woo Sikh, Hindu and Dalit communities in Punjab when party leader Rahul Gandhi visits the state on January 27 for the election campaign. Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Golden Temple, Durgiana Mandir and Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal in Amritsar on Thursday.
