EU imposes tough sanctions to cripple Russian economy

Europe is imposing sanctions on Russia designed to cripple its economy and force an end to the military assault. The EU has called the invasion a "barbaric" threat to the continent's stability while the UK Prime Minister has labelled President Vladimir Putin as a "bloodstained aggressor who believes in imperial conquest".
