Mat Sabu: Resolve 'big brothers' issue before Orang Asli begin commercial durian cultivation

The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry is seeking ways to address the threat of wild elephants, or “big brothers,” before involving the Orang Asli in large-scale durian cultivation in the country.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu told reporters after attending the Selangor Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) Fest on Saturday (June 29) that discussions are ongoing with the Perak Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee and the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) to address this issue.
