China's Taiwan Affairs Office is urging the U.S. not to enable what it calls "Taiwanese independence forces" as Taiwan President Lai Ching-te is scheduled to make a transit stop in Hawaii during a visit to the three Pacific island nations that recognize Taiwan. Taiwan is anticipating China may launch more military drills in response to Lai's first overseas trip as president, beginning on November 30.
