The chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, gave an emotional speech at the end of the three-day gathering on Sunday 16 February, thanking European leaders for reaffirming values of democracy, freedom and rule of law. This followed U.S Vice-President JD Vance’s speech criticizing Europe’s values and free speech and “the threat from within.”
