U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared details of a March attack on Yemen’s Houthis in a Signal group chat that included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer, The New York Times reports.
His brother and lawyer both work at the Pentagon, but his wife does not—though she reportedly often joins meetings with foreign leaders. It’s unclear if all chat participants had security clearance.
The Pentagon denies Hegseth shared classified material.
This is the second such case. Last month, it was revealed that Hegseth had discussed sensitive military operations in another Signal chat—one that mistakenly included The Atlantic's editor-in-chief. That incident is now under investigation.
