Budgam (J&K), May 17, 2025 (ANI): A self- help group in Pahroo village of Budgam has launched a notebook manufacturing unit under a government supported scheme to boost employment of locals. This is a step towards rural empowerment. The initiative aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for local youth and women while also contributing to the promotion of local entrepreneurship. The manufacturing unit established with support from the J&K Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) is part to support micro enterprises in rural areas. The project received financial assistance, technical training, and marketing support under the scheme, ensuring that members of the SHG were fully equipped to operate the unit efficiently. This initiative is a model for other rural communities. It not only empowers local women and youth but also encourages self-reliance and boosts the local economy The unit currently staffed by over a dozen members, has begun producing a variety of notebooks for school and office use. Plans are underway to expand distribution across Kashmir with an emphasis on affordable pricing and quality materials. The initiative is expected to scale up operations in the coming months, potentially creating dozens of new jobs in the District.
