Cutting edge tools to address health challenges in PH unveiled
The Department of Science and Technology—Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) spearheads innovation through its Digital and Frontier Technologies for Health (DFTH) program on May 27, 2025. The event showcased cutting-edge tools such as artificial intelligence (AI), extended reality, and intelligent systems to address long-standing challenges in the country’s health system. Among those presented at the event was the i-SULAT (Intelligent Stroke Utilization, Learning, Assessment, and Testing). Developed by Dr. Edison Roxas of the University of Santo Tomas, i-SULAT is a software-based tool that utilizes intelligent handwriting stroke analysis to assess children’s writing abilities. The i-SULAT aims to close this gap while also aiding in the rehabilitation of stroke patients and individuals with learning disabilities or neurological disorders.
