A Bell 407 helicopter with tail number N407SJ was seriously damaged on Friday morning (around 8:49 a.m. local time) after colliding with a hangar door during takeoff at Skypark Airport.
The video of the incident, circulating on social media, shows the moment when the helicopter’s main rotor strikes a partially open hangar door. The impact broke the rotor blades, causing the pilot to lose control and resulting in an immediate crash within the airport’s operational area.
According to local police, the pilot sustained only minor injuries. Authorities confirmed there were no signs of alcohol use by the pilot, and no prior technical issues had been reported.
The incident is under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to review flight records and video footage to determine the official cause of the accident.
