Severe floods in the central business district of Southern Thailand have left thousands of residents stranded and cut off communication lines. Weather officials forecast more rainstorms for the region over the next several days.

Thousands of Thai residents are stranded in their homes due to heavy rains and severe flooding in Hat Yai early Tuesday. The region is Thailand’s largest business district in the south.

Communication lines have been cut and power turned off for safety reasons. Roads in commercial areas remain underwater.

At least 14 districts have been declared disaster areas.

According to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the death toll from floods across the country is at least 105.

Meteorologists say more rainstorms are headed for Thailand's south and advised residents to stock up on food, medicine and supplies for emergency use.

The Thai prime minister is expected to visit Hat Yai later on Tuesday.
