The Chinese regime has formally arrested and charged three human rights activists this week as part of an ongoing crackdown. Chen Wei, Ran Yunfei, and Ding Mao have all been charged with "inciting subversion of state power." It's a charge that Chinese authorities often use to silence criticism of the regime.

All three men were originally detained in Sichuan Province in February. Their arrests came after calls last month for Middle East-style protests in China. Although there have been no major protests, the communist party has clamped down on dissidents and rights lawyers.

The group China Human Rights Defenders have now documented at least 26 cases of individuals criminally detained since mid-February. The group also says that at least 30 people have been "disappeared."
