In this video, Sevenish Law answers the question: If I don’t have motorcycle insurance, can I still make a claim? In most states, yes. In Indiana, it doesn’t matter whether you had valid auto insurance at the time of the crash. All that matters is whether the other person was legally at fault for the crash. That said, it is just not “Responsible” to drive any motor vehicle without having “Responsible Coverage” on yourself especially a motorcycle since operator injuries are usually so significant. Besides, if the wrongdoer is uninsured and you have no insurance you get nothing! Or if the wrongdoer only has state minimum coverage, which is only $25,000 in Indiana, and you have no or small Underinsurance coverage, you will never be fully compensated. All of this can be avoided before a crash by proactively choosing to have these important coverage’s before an accident.
