After the preliminary rounds of NTD's International Chinese Culinary Competition in Times Square New York, NTD hosts a fund-raiser for the New York Sergeants' Benevolent Association (SBA) and the Uniformed Fire Officers Bravest Scholarship Fund.

SBA president, Ed Mullins says holding the event in Times Square is a real highlight.

[Ed Mullins, President, Sergeants' Benevolent Association]:
"This is unbelievable. I'm a native New Yorker, born and raised right here. This is where we drop the ball, it is part of New Year's Eve throughout the world. Everybody watches this. This is a highlight of my lifetime to be here."

And they are here for a serious cause.

NTD television was founded in 2001 in the wake of 9/11. Now on the ten year anniversary of the tragedy, they are standing together with those from the emergency services who lost loved ones that day.

[Ed Mullins, President, Sergeants' Benevolent Association]:
"Tragically thousands of people were lost that day, police officers, firefighters, all kinds of rescue workers...The event that's happening here today is a fund raiser that is generating all kinds of money that's going to go towards police and firefighters' families that lost their lives in 9/11. And we're bringing attention to what happened, it's another form of our way of fighting terrorism by keeping the events that took place alive."

Cooking a special Kung Pow Chicken dish in honor of the 9/11 heroes are 16-year old prodigy chef Greg Grossman and Erik Cheah, partner and Chef de Cuisine at New York Thai restaurant Rhong-Tiam.
