iPhone tracking issue causes consumer flap

http://www.nma.tv/ Apple has come under criticism for gathering information on iPhone users' locations and movements. The information is gathered from cell-phone towers and Wifi access points and relayed back to Apple's servers. The data is stored in an unencrypted file. It provides a detailed dossier on a user's movements. This has raised privacy concerns. Google also tracks users' movements. There is speculation this data could be used to target advertisements to customers. Even if iPhone users turn off location sharing, the information is kept locally on the device. This leaves it open to discovery. Apple has filed a patent to develop extensive applications based on location tracking. Yet Steve Jobs has denied that Apple tracks its users.
