The Chinese regime is again defending their veto of the UN resolution against the violence in Syria. China's foreign ministry condemned criticism from the British foreign secretary. Bloodshed and violence has rocked Syria in the past year and has earned Syrian President Assad international condemnation.

The Chinese regime is condemning comments made by British Foreign Secretary William Hague at a UK Parliament hearing on Monday. Hague criticized a joint Chinese-Russian veto of a UN resolution condemning Syria's brutal crackdown on protesters. He called the veto "a grave error of judgment" and a "betrayal of the Syrian people."

[Liu Weimin, Foreign Ministry Spokesman]:
"We think the accusation is extremely irresponsible and has a hidden agenda. China will never accept it."

Liu defended the Chinese regime's foreign policy.

[Liu Weimin, Foreign Ministry Spokesman]:
"China and Syria have a long-term friendship. China is a friend of the Syrian people. When it comes to Syria, our bottom line is to safeguard the fundamental and long-term interests of the Syrian people and promote peace and stability of Syria and the region."

Yet bloodshed, torture, and violence have continued for the past 11 months. The resolution veto came just hours after a crackdown killing hundreds.

Syrian armed forces have killed more than 6000 people since March last year.

Hague said, "The human suffering in Syria is already unimaginable...this is an utterly unacceptable situation which demands a united international response."

The Chinese regime denounced Hague's comments saying they are "totally unacceptable."
