Brother of Jailed Lawyer Gao Zhisheng Petitions Beijing Authorities

Gao Zhiyi—the brother of Chinese human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng—has petitioned the Chinese regime for information about his brother's location and condition.

It's believed Gao Zhisheng is being held in the remote Shaya County of the Xinjiang region—but information about his whereabouts and condition have not been confirmed.

The Associated Press reported this is Gao Zhiyi's fourth trip to Beijing to petition the authorities for information about his brother. Gao Zhisheng was convicted of subversion in 2006 for his work defending individual property rights and oppressed religious groups—including House Christians and Falun Gong adherents.

Gao Zhisheng has been missing for over a year with no information about him surfacing until last December, when CCP authorities announced he had been sentenced to three years in prison for alleged violation of his probation.
