Falklands protest turns violent in Buenos Aires

Protesters hurled stones and homemade explosives at the British embassy in Bueno Aires on Monday -- the 30th anniversary of the Falklands war.

Police responded with rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons.

Earlier in the day, demonstrators burned British flags along with an effigy of Prince William. They also attacked the British bank HSBC.

Argentina has asked Britain to negotiate the sovereignty of the islands but London has said it will only enter talks if the islands some 3,000 residents request them, which they show no sign of doing.

The relatively recent discovery of oil near the Islands has only underscored tensions between the two countries.
