Twelve hundred British troops that were on standby are being called up to provide extra security for the Olympic Games.
The decision follows a private security firm's failure to recruit enough guards.
Officials say the additional troops are a precautionary measure.

"But we don't want to leave anything to chance. And given that these troops were on 48 hours notice, this was the last moment to call them up before what will be a very busy weekend."
The troops will join some 3,500 of their uniformed colleagues already guarding Olympic venues, ahead of the opening ceremony on Friday.
