Gloomy outlook for UK retailers

Eurozone finance ministers will meet again in Brussels with a hope of finding a way out of the economic crisis spreading.

However, that hope did not extend to consumers who have been holding on to their cash.

It was a sentiment that was shared by the markets when, for the first time since the creation of the euro, an auction of German bonds failed.
