Around 40 people have reportedly been killed and more than 100 wounded in double suicide bombings in the Syrian capital. The regime is laying the blaming for the attack on Al Qaeda. It's the first incident of its kind in Damascus since the uprising began in March. This comes against the backdrop of the first batch of Arab League monitors arriving to implement a peace deal, endorsed by the body. Former Belgian MP Lode Vanoost thinks the West and its Arab allies are simply seeking an excuse for military intervention.
