No-fly zone vote expected as Libya rebels give ground to Gaddafi

2011-03-17 5 Dailymotion

In Libya, forces loyal to Colonel Gaddafi have made significant gains in their offensive against the rebels. They're shelling the last opposition-held city in the west. Airstrikes have targeted an airport just 10 kilometres from the eastern rebel stronghold of Benghazi. As the advance on the rebels continues, the UN Security Council is expected to vote on a no-fly-zone resolution. Britain and France say it's necessary to prevent civilians casualties, but Russia says imposing the resolution could lead to military intervention and is pushing for a ceasefire.
