Suicide bomber kills at least 16 in north Afghanistan

A body is loaded into a pick up truck after a suicide bomber kills at least 16 people in Northern Afghanistan.

Local authorities say a man wearing an explosive vest blew himself up killed 10 police men and six civilians.

No one is claiming responsibility for the attack that also wounded at least 20.

Despite the presence of hundreds of thousands of Afghan and foreign troops fighting the Taliban-led insurgency, violence rages in Afghanistan more than a decade after the US - led war was launched in 2001.
