U.S. politicans try to make sense of new missile defense plan

The United States house armed services committee heard testimony from foreign policy and military experts on the new American missile defense plan. Witnesses say the new plan is not about Russia, however they welcome any ancillary benefits regarding Russia that might occur as a result of the new plan. They expressed interest in potentially sharing radar information with Russia.They say the new plan is more powerful, cost effective and mobile. The witnesses maintained that the new plan does not abandon Poland and the Czech Republic, longtime United States allies. Congressmen seemed to agree that missile defense is important to counteract the growing threat from Iran.
