Angry Birds, the world's most downloaded online game, now has a new competitor. Two young designers from Estonia have come up with a political spin on the gaming phenomenon. Moving the action to Russia, 'Angry Kremlins' sees players adopt the identity of Russian authorities - including President Putin - who must stop members of punk-rock band Pussy Riot from rioting.

Taking just one week to design the game, Angry Kremlins has been viewed more than 130,000 times since going live on their website. Magnus Vulp, along with his co-designer Almondi Esco, hope the game will draw attention to the political situation in Russia. Three members of the feminist punk group Pussy Riot were jailed for two years last month on hooliganism charges, after performing a "punk prayer", on the altar of Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Savior in February.

And although the duo often use politics as inspiration for their online games in their native Estonia, the popularity of the game in Russia and beyond, has surprised them. People in Russia are divided over the game. Magnus believes there's scope for a sequel to Angry Kremlins - but only if the political situation demands it.
