Alexandria erupts as Islamists take to the streets

The Islamist's nationwide rally in support of their president ran into stiff opposition in Alexandria, Egypt's second city.

Here thousands of pro and anti-president forces clashed with stone-throwing and brawling when they met.

This week has belonged to the opposition, which has mobilised twice to protest at what they claim is the president's seizure of "dictatorial powers".
