Crooks steal a jukebox thinking it was an ATM.

Some attempted thefts are simply comical.

Police in San Diego recently released video surveillance footage of two suspected crooks, who broke in a Hooters restaurant afterhours and stole a jukebox.

Investigators believe the thieves swiped the music box thinking it was an ATM. The suspects can be seen driving a pickup to the front of the business.

One man gets out and breaks the glass, while the driver attempts to back the vehicle inside of the restaurant. When the opening proved to be too tight for the truck to fit through, a tow strap was attached to the jukebox and then both men pushed it into the vehicle before taking off.

Police are still looking for the culprits who are said to be in their late teens or 20s.

This isn’t the first ATM heist gone wrong. Last year, two crooks in Sussex, UK stole a bulldozer to dislodge an ATM from the wall of a bank building.
When the cash machine was lifted, it was placed in the back of the getaway pickup. After all the hard work, the truck refused to start, leaving the men no other option but to take off on foot, minus a vehicle and the ATM.
