The official opening of the CODA Oslo International Dance Festival takes place this year at Oslo City Hall with the monumental multimedia installation La zon-mai by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Gilles Delmas. The work was created for the opening of Musée de l’histoire de l’immigration in Paris, and illuminates among other issues immigration in France. 21 dancers from all over the world were given the challenge to choreograph their ”home” and La zon-mai thereby launches this year’s festival, which crosses borders and builds bridges in different ways in response to the themes of identity, belonging and home. The festival presents 20 different productions, 40 performances, workshops, seminars, club, stunts and improvisation taking place at 20 different venues. In addition to Norwegian performers, artists from more than 20 different countries will be taking part in this year’s festival. www.codadancefest.no
