In a city to the east of Taiwan’s capital, a 24 year old mother and her 3 year old daughter were crushed beneath the wheels of a large truck.
The mother and her daughter were riding a scooter to a nearby night market, less than a 100 meters from their home. The mother parked to the right of a large truck, unfortunately the truck driver didn’t see the mother and child on their scooter, as they were too close to the truck and too low to be visible in the rearview side mirrors.
The truck turned right, the front wheel catching and rolling over the mother, child, and scooter. The driver immediately realized he’d hit something and stopped to call for emergency services.
When emergency services arrived they found the mother and daughter trapped beneath the truck, the mother curled protectively around her child. When they pulled the daughter out from beneath the truck the mother asked how her daughter was. They were her last words.
The mother died enroute to the hospital and the daughter has been checked into hospital with minor injuries.
