Bloody Cop Kills: Departed

So many moments to choose from in all films, but particularly in this film which is saddled with a ton of cops getting killed. But this is about the bloodiest and the most affecting. In a movie like The Departed, there is only one that stands out. When Martin Sheen's noble police captain explodes in front of Dicaprio like a watermelon in a science experiment, it is kind of hard not to be broken up about the loss of his character. But even more that that, it is hard not to get the image of his blood spraying all over the concrete just as our hero arrives on the scene. This one hurt. It hurt emotionally, and director Martin Scorcese decided to punctuate that moment with plenty of blood. Thanks Marty.
